The
Bhagavad Gita is the Gospel of Hinduism and one of
the great religious classics of the world. It is part of the
epic Mahabharata, which takes place on the battlefield,
symbolizing the spiritual struggle.
Swami
Prabhavananda
and novelist Christopher Isherwood have translated the
scripture into clear, meaningful English. The process of the Gita
translation has been documented in Isherwood’s My Guru
and His Disciple. The two have also collaborated on several
other translations.
Musical
interludes are provided by India’s great flutist, Harprasad
Chaurasia accompanied by Rijram Desad on swaramandal and
Sultan Khan on tanpura.
